England Under-23s v Japan and A Welsh XV v Argentina
Both touring sides ended their programmes yesterday at the national stadiums of Twickenham and Cardiff Arms Park. For the home sides it was a chance for England to look for players of the future, while, in Wales, established internationals had the opportunity of enhancing their reputations in front of the selectors. Experiences of joy, sorrow, bereavement, doubt - or inner moments of truth that may defy rational explanation.
In these programmes people are invited to give first-hand accounts of something that has real personal significance for them. 4: A Birth of Hope
Last November Bel Mooney gave birth to a boy. He was born very small, perfectly formed, but dead. I do not wish to get over his loss; nor do I wish to replace him with more children. I simply wish that his life and death should be absorbed into my own, deepening my perception.'

Te Korero: Myths and realities from the South Pacific Islands
In the Maori language, Te Korero means stories. This film, which is part musical, part documentary, tells some of the stories of the South Seas, entirely in the words and music of the Pacific peoples themselves. There are myths of the creation of the universe out of darkness, legends about the epic migrations across thousands of miles of oceans, and songs and dances about the realities of today -most especially the new migration of the South Pacific people, forced on them by the pressures of the modern world.

A Portrait of Nadlne Gordimer Introduced by Melvyn Bragg
' The facts ' says NADINE GORDIMER , * are always less than what really happens - the facts are just on the surface-it's what makes the facts.' Nadine Gordimer is one of South Africa's leading short story writers and novelists-a remarkable writer and compelling woman.
The mounting crisis in Southern Africa makes daily news on the front pages. Nadine Gordimer is a writer who takes us behind the headlines. In her stories she shows us the lives of South Africans, black and white, from the inside. She is not a directly political writer and yet, as she herself points out, it is through living in South Africa that she has learnt just how deeply people can be affected by their political circumstances.
MELVYN BRAGG interviewed her in London for this 2nd House production. The programme includes scenes from her work.
