All over Britain more than 150 athletes are preparing, many of them in secret, for the Skol 110 metres handicap - successor to the world-famous Powderhall Sprint. They'll meet at Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh today to compete for the blue riband of the professional footrace, a gold medal and a first prize of £500. But
there's a lot more money at stake than that. To the betting fraternity, these runners are little more than greyhounds that talk.
