Staying alive is a serious business for animals, and their survival means being successful in the game of hide and seek.
Juicy moths resemble broken twigs; grasshoppers look like half-hoppers and who is looking for half a meal! And there are sea creatures that you can see through. TONY SOPER wanders the veldt and visits seabird colonies in South Africa seeking marvellous examples in the art of disguise.

A series of eight programmes 1: In Search of a Champion
Last autumn 12 top shepherds and sheepdogs from all parts of the British Isles met at Buttermere in the Lake District for a series of television sheepdog trials. During the next seven weeks they will be seen competing in teams representing England East, England West, Scotland and Wales.
Phil Drabble (pictured) looks behind the trial course at the sheepdogs on the farm, the unique role they play, and their life-from puppies, through patient training, to working sheep on the lowlands and fells of the British countryside.
Next week all the skill and wisdom of man and dog will be put to the test as the first team, England West, competes on the trial course.
...a lucid, tranquil introduction to the trials to be shown in subsequent editions .. : (DAILY TELEGRAPH) ... simple, rewarding viewing the very best of television ...
