Enter the puppet world of the Mysterons from Mars, of Spectrum, the agency charged with saving Earth from invasion, of the sinister Captain Black, and of the indestructible Captain Scarlet.

Just as Thunderbirds and Stingray, other 1960s creations of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, have been introduced to a new, young public by recent BBC2 screenings, so Captain Scarlet awaits a fresh audience, as well as thirtysomethings anxious to feast on nostalgia. In this first episode, the Mysterons take over the mind and body of Captain Black.

US-born Nancy Lancaster is the subject of the second programme in this series. Now 95, she has cherished her glorious garden at Great Hasely, Oxfordshire, for 40 years. Famous for her influence on British interior design, she was one of the original pioneers of English country-house style and the first person to put carpets in bathrooms - a reaction to her dismay at the draughty discomfort of grand English houses in the 1920s. In this first television interview (she has refused past requests) she expresses her frustration as a wheelchair- user at no longer being able to "get her hands in the dirt".
