John Tusa introduces people who have suffered under political repression.
Francis Khoo Kah Siang was a senior advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore. In 1977 he was implicated in written and televised ' confessions ' and only just escaped arrest in the confusion of the Chinese New Year celebrations. He and his wife are now living in England as exiles who hope to return home as soon as they can safely do so.

Departure is the story of the 12 hours up to the time when the wheels of Flight 844 bound for Australia leave the runway at Heathrow. Who helps to get this giant jumbo off the ground? And who will be on that flight and why? An emigrating family; a captain whose career can end with his next medical; a grandmother flying for the first time; and two stewardesses who reveal that life at 35,000 feet may have its moments but isn't always as glamorous as the ' Fly Me ' ads suggest.

Forest fires, emergency water supplies, the Minister in charge of Drought and a plague of ladybirds shared the headlines in the summer of 76-the driest for two centuries.
Rivers turned green, ponds vanished, fish were stranded and alien plants appeared overnight. For Britain's wildlife it seemed to be a year of disaster -but was it really? Why were there so many ladybirds? Were the trees really dying?
Two wet, cold summers later, this film made in the heat of a natural crisis now seems strangely nostalgic.
