continues a season of films celebrating the 60th anniversary of BBC Radio starring
Tommy Handley, Greta Gynt
When Mayor Handley decides to invest the town's rates in a theatre, the residents and councillors of 'Foaming at the Mouth' are decidedly apprehensive. Not without reason since Tommy has been 'sold a pup'. A desperate situation is saved only by one of the most chaotic theatrical benefits in showbusiness history and an unexpected windfall.
Handley and his team of regulars helped keep Britain going during the war and post-war years despite bombs, rationing and the like....

Girl- Man is never confused, only lost in his surroundings.
Years of living with 75-year-old, antique-dealing theatrical costumiers and holiday makers, drunk for a day in the shadow of an oriental pavilion, have taken their toll on the Brighton production panel that made this programme.
They perform pieces based on events from everyday life with their own peculiar perspective.
Waking, walking, eating, meeting.
But life is never as simple as that, neither is the programme. Boy: Isn't life strange?
Girl: Compared with what? Music from Birds with Ears

Dry-stone walling, heather and bog gardens are discussed in this week's programme, when Geoff Hamilton visits Joan Petford. She has created her own personal haven from a broken-down cottage and overgrown field, high in the rugged and exposed Pennines.

The last of five films about ways of life in different parts of the world. Muria
The Muria live in a relatively isolated area of central India. Their way of life differs from the general Indian pattern in many respects.
One important difference is the independence of spirit encouraged in Muria girls and boys. They sleep separately from their parents in the ' ghotul a dormitory and meeting house for the young. As members of the ghotul, their dancing and singing display Muria culture at its most splendid. But their marriages are arranged by their parents, and at marriage the young must leave the carefree life of the ghotul. Sometimes they rebel against their fate-in fact, their parents half expect them to. Narrator SNEH GUPTA
