The epic story of the 16th-century Cossack chieftain, Taras Bulba , who fights at the side of Prince Grigory, the Polish leader, in the battle to drive the Turks out of the Ukraine.
In the years of uneasy alliance that follow, Taras Bulba 's two sons grow to manhood. But one of them, Andrei, falls in love with the daughter of a Polish nobleman, and eventually sides with the Poles against his own father. The tragedy that follows provides a fitting climax to this spectacular and exciting film.

by PIER FRANCESCO CAVALLI from the Theatre Royal, Glasgow, RAYMOND LEPPARD 'S realisation of Cavalli's exotic opera L'Egisto in the spectacular production for Scottish Opera by JOHN cox.
Scenery, costumes and lighting design by ALLEN CHARLES KLEIN
L'Egisto is an opera about love, with all its pains and pleasures. The fates of two pairs of lovers are in the hands of capricious gods whose dramatic appearances bring both the first two acts to a climax.
Cavalli's glorious music urges the action on through comedy, intense drama and the anguish of lost love, but with Cupid's help, it is love that triumphs in the end.
The libretto by GIOVANNI FAUSTINO is sung in Italian with English subtitles.

starring Henry Fonda Vera Miles with Anthony Quayle
The nightmare of a man caught in the toils of blind justice is presented with Chilling reality in Hitchcock's true tale of mistaken identity.
Henry Fonda gave one of his finest screen performances as Manny Balestrero , a modest bass player. Making a routine visit to an insurance firm, he is identified by the staff as a man involved in a hold-up. On the strength of their accusations, he is arrested and a case of circumstantial evidence is constructed. Even his handwriting seems to prove him guilty.
