Heaven and Hell
Do you know all you've ever wanted to about comets? Did you know that the evolution of the moon was a history of catastrophes? Eye-witness accounts of a lunar collision made in the 12th century can be proved by modern scientific techniques. The romantic planet Venus is in fact surrounded by clouds of concentrated sulphuric acid.
Explanations of all this and more in this week's Cosmos.

Can Your Mind Control Your Body? A rock musician, who has a rare bleeding disease called haemophilia, is taught by a dentist to control his bleeding using hypnosis. A New Orleans doctor hypnotises burn patients to limit swelling and speed healing.
A young doctor in a London hospital hypnotised a boy whose body was covered in what he took to be a very bad case of warts. The warts began to disappear within a week. but to his astonishment he found that he had become the first doctor in the history of medicine to cure what was in fact an incurable skin disease-yet he could not repeat this with other patients. This, the third of four films, asks, can hypnosis help patients gain greater control over their bodies and how much do we know about the mechanisms involved?
