Whatever Happened to the Energy Crisis?
We'd all like cheap and plentiful energy - but as fossil fuels begin to run out, where's it going to come from? The usual answer - despite concerns over safety and environmental impact -is nuclear power. Probably true - if we needed more and more energy. But do we? This film explores an alternative path. It shows how we could use much less energy and still maintain our present lifestyle and how, with low energy demand, other sources like wind, wave and solar power, could then make a major contribution to electricity generation. The arguments suggest that we don't need the massive expansion of nuclear power that's planned for the next decade. Narrator PAUL VAUGHAN
