"I'm fed up working for bastard millionaires. I want to work for the really big public. Art should be available for everybody."
Takis, an important figure in the international art scene, is fulfilling his intention by creating sculptures to be mass-produced. His Signals, originally £1,500, now sells for about £15. This film by Mahmoud Khosrowshahi shows Takis, his work, and the reactions and opinions of Douglas Cooper, art critic and collector, Jeremy Fry, who manufactures the multiples, workmen in his factory, and members of the public.
"Art should be like a pocketbook: take it into a coffee-shop, take it home, eat with it, play with it; and when you're fed up just throw it away."
