A programme for children at home
Presenters this week, Carole Ward, Brian Cant
Today's story: 'Gennarino' by Nicola Simbari

Italy, Austria, Switzerland, and Norway are some of the other countries where children see Play School, but they know it by other names. In Italy it is called Giocagio and in Switzerland Das Spielhaus. There are stories, songs, and games from these and other countries in Play School this week and Carole and Brian try counting in a different foreign language each day.

Ten programmes on career opportunities for young adults
with Paddy Feeny and Percy Walton, Secretary, Institute of Youth Employment Officer.

What qualifications can you get from Art College? How can you use them? How else can you sell creative talent?
Many young people feel they want to earn their living in a job that is creative. And many of them won't have realised that this doesn't necessarily mean you take a course in drama or art. If you do, it is essential to know what you want to study; where you can follow the course; and how you are going to use it later.
This programme illustrates these points with film of two real-life case studies; and follows up with a discussion on how to help young people with saleable artistic talent to solve these problems.

Big John is reluctant to become involved in a dispute between the workers and owners at a nearby mine, but Manolito feels more strongly, supporting the Irish miners with brawn as well as brain. The results are explosive-and nearly literally so.

A sore throat, a runny nose, a slight temperature-and you feet rotten: you are probably suffering from an upper respiratory tract infection, says the General Practitioner in Television Doctor tonight. But if you've crawled into bed with a severe headache, aching all over, shivering, a cough, and a high temperature-it's probably influenza, and A2/Hong Kong 1/68 at that.
The Consultant Physician and a General Practitioner discuss the flu epidemic and give you advice about the disease. The programme also introduces a Professor of Medicine who has studied influenza all his life and who was the first man in the world to catch flu from a ferret.

Three plays by Jean Benedetti

An emaciated young man is moving from doss-house to doss-house in the Vienna of 1909. He is struggling desperately to receive recognition as an artist, but all he receives is abuse. He makes friends with a wily down-and-out called Reinhold Hanisch who for his own ends wants to help sell his paintings. But Hanisch is to remember his brief association with the young artist for his name is Adolf Hitler.
