A celebration to mark the first day of Silver Jubilee Year - a year that commemorates the 25th Anniversary of Her Majesty The Queen's accession to the Throne, -a year of festivities throughout the United Kingdom and Commonwealth. 
We start this first day of 1977 by going back to that Coronation Day of 2 June 1953. With unique archival material from one of the earliest telerecordings ever made we invite you to relive the seven hours of Coronation Day Celebrations as seen - in black and white -by the BBC outside broadcast cameras throughout London.

1976 was the year Dr Kissinger moved to avert race war in Africa; when Rhodesia's whites accepted black power as inevitable; when America's blacks helped put a white southerner into the White 
House; and Britain's blacks fought with police in the streets of London. 
The BBC's Foreign Correspondents tonight tackle the world-wide problem of race; not just the tension between blacks and whites, but between other races too. How do other countries treat their immigrants? Do laws bring races together? Can laws keep races apart? Is the Southern African struggle about skin colour or political complexion?
