by FRIEDRICH VON SCHILLER Adapted for television by OLIVER STORZ
Schiller called his second play a republican tragedy. It was based on the attempt by the young Count Fiesco to overthrow in the year 1547 the aged dictator of Genoa, making the town into a republic. It establishes in a number of fast-moving scenes the plot, counter-plot, attempted assassinations and real-and-false love affairs of the scintillating main character.
