A look back over 40 years of Europe's national and international football.
French teams competing in Europe have frequently played inventive football but lacked a pragmatic edge, often sacrificing success in favour of a glorious playing style. Reims contested two of the first four European Cup finals, but there was to be no success in any competition until 1984.
In Belgium, Anderlecht have a proud European record, and in 1980 an excellent national side stretched the West Germans to the limit in the final of the European Nations Cup.
Featuring interviews with Michel Platini , Michel Hidalgo , Jean Tigana , Paul van Himst, Raymond Kopa and Guy Thys.
