A look back over 40 years of Europe's national and international football.
Liverpool were the dominant English force during the early 1970s and went on to translate their domestic success on the Continent by winningthe
European Cup in 1977. The team featuring Alan Hansen ,
Graeme Souness and Kenny Dalglish took up the mantle with three more wins, which sandwiched a trio of other triumphs for Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.
But success at club level was not mirrored by the national team in the European Nations Cup. Tonight's analysis of Britons in Europe features interviews with Alex Ferguson ,
Bobby Robson , Graham Taylorand Alan Hansen. Producer Lakviar Singh ; Editor Niaii Sioane # See Alan Hansen : page 56
