For the last 16 years the Labour Party has been in political exile, split by internal conflicts and on the losing side in four general elections. This four-part series, from the team which made Thatcher: the Downing Street Years, speaks to key players in the party, including leader Tony Blair. They speak frankly about Labour's troubles during the eighties and how they hope to bring the party out of the political wilderness and back to power.
The first programme tells the story of the civil war following Labour's defeat in 1979 and its near disintegration in 1981 when senior figures left to form the Social Democratic Party.
