Where the public sets the agenda
Britain's mounting housing crisis is creating a growing class of urban nomads, single people and childless couples who have no right to a home but cannot be classified legally as homeless.
The image of the homeless as winos or dossers has been shattered by a succession of public reports, yet local and central government continue to ignore the issue.
Single Problem looks at who the single homeless really are and the actions they are forced to take to cope with the pressures of insecurity.

Tim Bedford's Fast and Bumpy Ride
It's a great idea: modify a diesel engine to deliver twice the power - with dramatic reductions in noise and air pollution. The fuel, natural gas, is cheaper and seven times more abundant than petroleum. Tim Bedford is ahead of the world in developing its use: he must be on to a winner. Or is he?
Commercial Breaks follows his fortunes for nine months as he struggles to keep the project going. He hits problems: an American backer who wants to make money in Argentina; a bank that wants him to cut his overdraft; a gas board that won't sell him the liquid natural gas he urgently needs. So it's make or break, as Tim Bedford tells his workforce, 'Fasten your seatbelts for a fast and bumpy ride. It's going to be exciting!'
