Following the death of his friend in a U-boat attack, Lt Cmdr MacClain is given a new command-a little fighting ship, Corvette K-225. On its maiden voyage across the Atlantic, K-225 faces gales and Nazi ambushes and the mettle of its crew is put to a supreme test.

1944. When Quint Munroe leads a reconnaissance flight over occupied France, he confirms British Army Intelligence information that development work on V3 rockets is being undertaken at the Chateau de Charlon. Even though it becomes known that hundreds of RAF PoWs-including Quint's best friend David Scott-have been moved into the chateau, Munroe's Mosquito Squadron receives explicit orders: the installations must be destroyed.
