Argentina will soon be able to manufacture nuclear weapons, if the country's military government so decides. This would make Argentina the first nuclear power in South America and could lead to a new Latin arms race. Argentina also intends to sell plutonium -potential bomb material-to other countries.
In a Newsnight Special, Robin Densclow reveals the secret role Germany has played in Argentina's nucleat programme - and shows how former Nazis, who fled to Argentina after the war, helped to develop these nuclear links.
