In 1992, the first official Western study of Chernobyl reported no evidence of health effects. However, another small team, led by British scientists Dr Keith Baverstock and Sir Dillwyn Williams, confirmed local reports of an epidemic of thyroid cancer that was clearly attributable to the disaster.
The programme shows how, opposed by powerful interests, the scientists battled to prove their claim - one that has grave implications for the nuclear industry worldwide.

The second of three acting workshops in which distinguished figures from stage and screen share their secrets with aspiring young thespians.

Richard Wilson casts off the memorable comedy monster of long-complaining Victor Meldrew from One Foot in the Grave and gets back to his theatrical roots. Joined by a group of six young actors, he works on the techniques behind stripping down a performance through improvisation to find what he considers to be the essence of truthful acting. The improvisations are, by turns, shocking, comic, sometimes even silent. But in each case the first consideration he addresses is always the same: are they believable?
