South Bank Extravaganza
An introduction to a new series reflecting the fun that young people have making music. Presenters Sarah Walker and Christopher Warren-Green join thousands of young musicians visiting London's South Bank Centre to take part in a musical extravaganza. The event features finalists from this year's Young Musician competition, and includes a range of music, from bhangra to brass bands, and rock to ragga. The series continues with the first of four workshops at 8. 1 0pm.

Settling New Scores
First of four workshops that give young musicians the chance to exchange ideas and have their work scrutinised.
In tonight's programme, the cameras follow 12 budding composers given the opportunity to have their work performed by the BBC Philharmonic, and discussed by the orchestra's conductor Martyn Brabbins and four professional composers. Aged between 14 and 24, some have never had a composition lesson in their life, while others are already making a nameforthemselves. Introduced by Sarah Walker. Compositions from the workshop can be heard in two concert programmes on the followingtwo Saturdays on Radio 3.
