Giuseppe Verdi 's biblical opera is reinterpreted in this new production by the Welsh
National Opera, now in its 50th anniversary season. Conducted by Carlo Rizzi , the opera tells the story of the struggle and subjugation of the Judaean people, who are caught in the crossfire of two warringempires -
Egypt and Babylon. Controversially, this version also takes into account
20th-century history, with references to the Holocaust and war in Bosnia.
Nabucco is sung in Italian with English subtitles. Introduced by Rabbi Hugo Gryn. See today's choices.
