Investigates, Discovers, Questions

This week: Working Mothers - Should They? Can They?
Is there life after birth for the mothers of Britain's pre-school children? Only 40 per cent of them feel that full-time motherhood is the right thing to do. Already, nearly a million mums leave their under-fives with someone else while they go out to work, and more and more women are demanding the right to a job as well as a baby. But the Government's declared policy is 'stay at home and look after your children yourself, full-time.'
Harold Williamson talks to mothers who need the money, who need the break and who need their careers, and investigates the people who look after other people's children: in day nurseries and in their own homes, legally and illegally. He and Jenny Conway explore the rights of mothers and seek an answer to the question: if Mum goes out to work what is best for herself and her child?

for the BBC2 Trophy Leigh v Barrow
Leigh have made an excellent start to the season, beating Challenge Cup holders Widnes in the League, and conquering top-class clubs Hull KR and Leeds in the John Player Trophy, and Warring-ton in the preliminary round of the Floodlit Trophy.
Barrow, determined to get back into the First Division this season, have made some interesting signings including two Rugby Union players from Wales - Chris Camilleri and Alan Evans - and Ian Ball from Lancashire, who is among the leading points-scorers so far this season.
Highlights of the match played earlier this evening at Hilton Park.
