Easter Special from Clacks Farm with Arthur Billitt , Peter Seabrook Easter is traditionally the start of the gardening year for many families, particularly with vegetable growing. Arthur's plot is well under way and this evening he discusses with Dr Peter Salter , from the National Vegetable Research Station, the results of the latest experiments in crop growing and spacing to achieve maximum yield. The small patio garden at Clacks Farm has been started and Peter will be looking at the materials chosen for the 14ft x 24ft space and advising on plants for growing in tubs, troughs, hanging baskets and other containers.

In the small sitting-room of a terraced house in Newcastle Ethel, Jean and Nora spin out the cobbled-street memories of the old Byker community. Around them, what's left of the familiar streets and alleyways are being ploughed down to make way for a new community. But, for these three women, the memories are like well-worn family snapshots, brightening up the weeks and months of delays as the council's re-housing programme struggles through the long, cqld winter.
