Lulu is a femme fatale. She plays out a tyranny of feminine charm persecuted and misunderstood. She is a mistress of love who destroys everyone because she is destroyed by everyone.
Men are attracted to her and in taking from her what she has to offer meet their deaths. Graduating from the gutter, Lulu ascends to the peak of society only to be thrown down again as a prostitute who meets her own death at the hands of Jack the Ripper.
