Trial by Interview
First of three nightly Horizon programmes
The worst ten minutes of my life.... You can list things like: 'It brings in good money.' That sounds so greedy.
Two sixth-formers face the ordeal of an interview which will win or lose them a place at medical school. In just 15 minutes, they have to convince a panel that they've got what it takes to make a good doctor. Each year, there are more than 2,000 applicants for the 100 places at St Mary's Hospital Medical School. One in five are chosen for interview, and it's not so much academic ability but personality that will be tested. But what is the right personality for a doctor - and can you detect it at 17 or 18? with Peter Wright and artists of the Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet.

Giselle, first danced in 1841, is the most famous of romantic ballets to have survived. Peter Wright, Artistic Director of Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet, has produced this ballet all over the world. How do you tell a story in dance? In this Master Class, with members of the company, Peter Wright looks at the acting and the mime in Act 1 of the ballet, rather than the steps, and together they tackle the most famous moment in the ballet - Giselle's mad scene.

Francesco Rosi
Mike Newell, director of "Dance with a Stranger", introduces Francesco Rosi's portrait of a violent society.

Starring Frank Wolff, Salvo Randone.

Salvatore Giuliano lies dead in a courtyard. The carabinieri claim he was shot on the run, but only one thing seems certain: Giuliano was betrayed. In exposing the complex story of the bandit who came to be mythologised as a modern Robin Hood,
Francesco Rosi lays bare the roots of Sicily's turbulent history since the war, a history still dominated by the Mafia despite strenuous efforts by the state.
