Karen Silkwood died mysteriously as she tried to draw attention to health hazards at the plutonium plant where she worked in Oklahoma. After a long suit, her family won damages of$10 million from her employers. This week a major Hollywood film opens in Britain, starring Meryl Streep as the woman who has become a martyr of the US anti-nuclear movement.
Panorama reporter Philip Tibenham and producer Chris Olgiati first investigated her death five years ago. Tonight they re-tell the extraordinary sequence of events which suggest her death was no accident.
