A 13-part worldwide series Presented by Ronald Eyre 6: The Romanian Solution
' There are about 150 million Orthodox Christians - as far apart as Finland and Japan, but mostly in Eastern Europe and the Balkans. We spent Easter week among the unique painted churches of Moldavia; then moved across the Carpathian Mountains and into Transylvania ... the village of Sibiel. We had travelled 180 miles west from Bucharest; and, I'd say at a rough guess, 200 years back in time.'

Election Special
- Public Spending
Peter Hobday reports on public spending. Nearly half of all spending each year is done by the government Roads, hospitals, schools, police and all public services have to be paid out of taxes or money borrowed from the government.
All political parties look for ways of cutting taxes, but what does the public lose when taxes are cut? Is there really a great deal of waste in public spending or would cuts mean losing services that the public have come to expect?
