Scientists are stifling Science
Scientists are like monks in their cells who come out for communal prayers that they call conferences.... Professor John Taylor of King's College, London, maintains that his fellow scientists are narrow-minded and stick to a rigid system of beliefs. As a result, they are hostile to 'heretics' working on potentially exciting research from paranormal metal bending to the study of the human brain. These provocative views open a discussion at the Royal Institution with its director Sir George Porter, FRS, in the chair and with contributions from an invited audience. Taylor is opposed by Professor Sir Sam Edwards, Chairman of the Science Research Council and James Randi, conjurer who believes 'the Geller phenomenon' to be no more than a conjuring trick.
