An Investiture is a ceremony which is uniquely the monarch's own - only when the reigning monarch personally nominates her representative can anyone else conduct an investiture. It is also The Queen's own prerogative to decide where the ceremony will take place and how many of her subjects she will honour.
Outside broadcast cameras were admitted to the State Ballroom, Buckingham Palace, for the first time to witness this event.
