The last of three plays, written for Full House, which explore the relationships of a student with his teachers - in tonight's play, with his Cambridge tutor, Ram Narayan plays an evening raga on the sarangi, an instrument rarely heard outside India (its nearest western equivalent is the cello). Ram Narayan is accompanied on the tabla by Suresh Talwalkar.

Poet and novelist, winner of the Heinemann Award for his book of poems Masks of Love in 1961. He's been a professional boxer and, during the war, he served with the Gordon Highlanders - an experience reflected in his poetry.
