9.15* Gladys Knight and the Pips
From Atlanta, Georgia, one of Tamla Motown's most successful recording groups - responsible for hit singles like "Heard it Through the Grapevine" and "Take Me in Your Arms and Love Me". Tonight this group - who have sung together since their schooldays - make one of their rare appearances on British television.
The Fine Art of Goofing Off
From station KQED, San Francisco, some more ingenious cartoon variations on the theme of "Goofing Off" or "Don't do something, just stand there". This week's montage will include the "Big Audience Participation Show", "International Leisure Aptitude Tests", and "How To Make a Trombone".

Ram Narayan
plays an evening raga on the sarangi, an instrument rarely heard outside India (its nearest western equivalent if the cello). Ram Narayan is accompanied on the tabla by Suresh Talwalkar.
10.45* Vernon Scannell
Poet and novelist, winner of the Heinemann Award for his book of poems "Masks of Love" in 1961. He's been a professional boxer and, during the war, he served with the Gordon Highlanders - an experience reflected in his poetry.
Eccentrica
A collection of adult toys.
Also included: sketches by Adrian Mitchell ... and whatever else turns up.
