Mounting The Queen's Guard at Buckingham Palace is one of the great ceremonies of the world. Normally performed daily before eager crowds, it is undoubtedly the number one tourist attraction for the London visitor. They come in thousands to admire the precision of the drill, and witness the pageantry of this ancient ceremony featuring The Coldstream Guards with the Regimental Band and Corps of Drums of the Coldstream Guards.

Firework Competition: live from the Thames at Tower Bridge Teams from
Belgium, France Spain and Britain compete to put on the most attractive firework display for television.
Each team has exactly six minutes to let off its prize pieces and win marks from the international jury. The fireworks are specifically designed for the television screen.

Peter Hall's production of this 17th-century Italian opera, newly realised specially for Glyndebourne by Raymond Leppard, was seen at the 1970 Festival for the first time since its original production at Venice in 1651.
Jove, descending from Olympus, is attracted to the nymph Calisto. To pursue her he disguises himself as his daughter Diana; but the real Diana, herself pursued by Pan, loves a shepherd-boy, Endymion - whom Pan takes captive in revenge. Juno, suspicious of Jove's absence, comes down and transforms Calisto into a bear. Diana rescues Endymion and they vow eternal love. Jove takes Calisto to Olympus where she will shine for ever with the stars.
