Deadly Voyage 9.30pm BBC2
For the second time tonight illegal immigration is the topic with this chilling Screen Two action film based on a true story. A lottery win encourages Kingsley, a young Ghanaian docker, to pursue his dream of becoming an engineer. With funds to make a start in America, he organises a group of friends to stow away on a freighter bound for the west. Unfortunately, the vessel is a rust-bucket crewed by impoverished Ukrainians in fear of losing their livelihoods, and the crew's desperation to prevent any trouble with their employers leads to horrifying inhumanity.
Made for television with a budget larger than most British feature films, this is a gripping, thought-provoking drama. It stars up and coming American actor Omar Epps as Kingsley, with Joss Ackland, Sean Pertwee and David Suchet.
