The documentary series following the stories of African-American migrants and theirfamilies overthree generations.
We Stand at the Crossroads. This third programme tells the story of black
Chicago between the end of the war and the early sixties. With thousands of migrants still pouring in from the South every day, the cultural life and the politics of the USA's second city were being changed dramatically and for ever. It was a time when the South Side ghetto emerged, when Mayor Daley built a gigantic housing project and when white mob violence was routinely used to seal the racial boundaries of this expanding city. But across Chicago - and the US - a new, urban black militancy began to emerge.
