Tonight's film offers a rare glimpse of Placido
Domingo - the only one of the Three Tenors who also conducts - rehearsing and conducting the 1993 Los Angeles production of Puccini's "La Boheme". Working alongside Domingo in his operatic debut is veteran Hollywood director and choreographer Herbert Ross. Domingo carefully guides a young cast through the emotional complexities of their roles, singing every part as he rehearses the orchestra. Ross employs more aggressive tactics. What emerges is an unusual portrait of different approaches to making opera, and an insight into Domingo's extraordinary love for the music.
