with the English National Opera Don Carlos
The English National Opera has won particular praise for its productions of Verdi, especially their striking Mafia-style Rigoletto.
Mark Elder , the company's Director of Music, has been acclaimed for his conducting of Rigoletto, Otello and most recently Don Carlos , the subject tonight.
In the second of three workshops, Elder and David Pountney , the ENO Director of Productions, explore the dramatic confrontation between King Philip of Spain and the revolutionary nobleman Rodrigo Marquis of Posa, where emotional conflict and political expediency are fused in one of Verdi's most gripping duets. Brazilian Grand Prix
After months of mid-winter testing the heat will really be on as the leading contenders line up for the opening race of the 1987 season. The sweltering conditions will put driver fitness at a premium.
Just two drivers have been on the winner's podium in the last five years - Brazil's own Nelson Piquet in 1983 and last year's victor and reigning World Champion,
Alain Prost in 1982, 1984, 1985. Britain's Nigel Mansell will be looking for a winning start to this season after coming so close last year, and Ayrton Senna, in the new Lotus, will be looking for his first win in his home Grand Prix.
