In the last of three workshops, he, along with Mark Elder the company's Director of Music, explores the central scene of Act 2 of Janacek's Jenufa. This scene reveals the composer's mastery of musical psychology with a respected community leader in rural Moravia struggling with her guilt at the birth of an illegitimate grandchild, while the father of the baby tries to escape from his responsibilities.
