A film about an artist and about an obsession.
'It was a dream of mine that somehow, if it were possible, I would love to make a film with Leonardo as a sort of focal plane to show through Leonardo's drawings, through his art work and through his statements about art, how art of that kind is always relevant to any age.'
(EDWARD COWIE)
English composer
Edward Cowie has for years been fascinated by the phenomenon of Leonardo, the ultimate Renaissance man, and this film is an expression of that fascination.
Cowie's orchestral work
Leonardo is the basis for a musical and pictorial journey through Leonardo's work, exploring not just his paintings but his scientific experiments and his prophecies which took him so close to the contemporary world.

Fifty years ago, Basil Wright and Harry Watts 's classic documentary Night Mail celebrated the role of the railways as the nation's distributor of goods, mail, food and other essentials. In 1987, 84 per cent of all goods are transported by road - the age of steam has become the day of the articulated lorry. With Timothy Spall as The Fool on the Road and specially commissioned music by Ian Dury , tonight's film goes on the road.
