The Save and Prosper International
England v Scotland for the Calcutta Cup Scotland come to
Twickenham as favourites, hoping to win the Triple
Crown for only the second time in half a century. Their main problems are injuries, whereas England, without a win so far, and forced to make changes after disciplinary moves, have to improve enormously if they are to get any sort of result. Commentators

A Beethoven Evening conducted by Sir Georg Solti with Murray Perahia (piano) and the London Symphony Orchestra leader MICHAEL DAVIS The programme:
Overture: Coriolan, Op 62 Piano Concerto No 1, in c major, Op 15
Symphony No 7, in A major, Op 92
For the climax of last month's anniversary celebrations at the Barbican, the Centre's director Henry Wrong invited Sir Georg Solti to conduct the London Symphony Orchestra for the first time in nearly 20 years. The result was a triumph: 'Sir Georg galvanised the LSO into giving their excellent best.... the demonic urgency [in the Seventh Symphony finale] was offset by a noble lyricism in the allegretto.' Derek Malcolm introduces Andrei Tarkovsky 's masterpiece
Andrei Rublev starring
Anatoly Solonitsin Nikolai Sergeyev
Andrei Rublev , one of the world's great artists, lived in an age of violence unequalled in Russia's turbulent history. As Rublev journeys through feudal Russia, his experiences lead him to break away from the tenets of his teacher.
While Theophanes the Greek believed art should terrify men into repentance, Rublev's icons radiate profound spirituality and divine grace.
This extraordinary and powerful film, shelved for many years by the Soviet authorities before being released in a severely cut form, is tonight being shown complete as a tribute to
Andrei Tarkovsky who died in December 1986.
Screenplay by ANDREI TARKOVSKY and ANDREI MlKHALKOV-KONCHALOVSKY
Directed by ANDREI TARKOVSKY
