A New Girl
For Zoe [text removed] , it's the hardest decision she's ever had to make. During her pregnancy she took an anti-morning sickness drug. Her daughter Sharon was born with a skull deformity - there's no proof that the drug caused it, but Zoe has always felt responsible and guilty.
Now there's the chance of an operation at Great Ormond
Street which could transform Sharon's appearance, and offer this bright 8-year-old the possibility of a normal life. But it could also go wrong, and condemn her forever to awkwardness with her friends and cruel stares from strangers. Should Zoe take the risk?
This film follows mother and daughter through the 18 months that will change their lives. Once Zoe decides, she experiences both heartache and joy.
Will Sharon fulfil her hopes, and become 'a new girl'? Photography ALEX HANSEN Film editor MARTIN SHARPE

Midland Bank World Indoor Pairs Championship
The second quarter-final is on the rink this evening and it is difficult to assess who will be the contestants. Welshmen TERRY SULLIVAN and DAVID WILKINS will be many people's choice, but you cannot rule out the Irish pairing of jim BAKER and ROD MCCUTCHEON. No doubt RABKIN and BRANSKY (Israel), also CUTLER and BELL, will have a major say in who starts the session. DAVID ICKE introduces highlights of this evening's match from the Bournemouth International Centre.
