In April 1990 Nasa's Hubble telescope made its maiden voyage into the cosmos. This device, the most complex ever designed, was to provide an eye on the universe and unravel its deepest mysteries. A tiny flaw in one of its mirrors shattered initial expectations, but 11 turbulent years later, Hubble is helping solve astronomers' most fundamental quandary - the age of the universe.
