Choosing and planting shrubs for year round colour is another timely task, and Sheila Macqueen arranges a basket of flowers and makes an arrangement for the Easter table.

This week's theme: Grief Giotto (1267-1377)
Lamentation of the Dead Christ at the Arena Chapel, Padua
Giotto, like many great artists, seems to have been most inspired by tragic themes, and his austere style is suited to portraying austere events. The Lamentation, called ' pieta ' in Italy, is the most intense of all the scenes in the Padua chapel. Every shape laments. Grief permeates the whole composition.

The last of three programmes
Written and narrated by Ian Wooldridge
Two thousand years ago a Greek messenger called Pheidippides ran 26 miles from Marathon to Athens, announced the obliteration of the Persian army and dropped dead. Bill Haines, a Yorkshire fire insurance engineer, is obsessed with retracing most of his footsteps.
Back home, jumping off Ben Nevis provided a more complicated challenge for the flying doctor, in a hot air balloon race from the summit of Britain's highest mountain to the nearest pub.
