Tonight's film follows Dame Joan and her husband, the conductor, Richard Bonynge , over a year in their busy life. We go behind the scenes at the New York Met and the Sydney Opera House, on tour in Japan and Korea, and watch recording sessions in London and at the Bonynges' home in Switzerland. Including excerpts from Australian Opera's productions of Norma, La Traviata and The Merry Widow, a Wagner recording session and various songs in rehearsal and recital. Narrated by RICHARD BAKER

Ivy Jeffers took nearly 70 years to fulfil a lifelong ambition and become a minister. After a colourful career and a long, happy marriage, her husband died. When the wounds had healed she found new vitality in her work for the Congregational Church, and at 68 became the oldest woman in Britain to be ordained. Now 81, she is still preaching.
