In 1459 Gozzoli was commissioned by Cosimo de Medici to paint the walls of the chapel of the new Medici Palace in Florence. The Medici left behind them a name and an enormous artistic heritage of which Gozzoli's tribute to his patron remains as one of the most complete and magnificent works of the Italian Renaissance.
