Sexual Encounters of the Floral Kind
Plants don't hold up their flowers to heaven and the sun simply to be noticed: they are designed for one thing only. Sex in the plant world involves dressing up, advertising, seduction, the use of some intriguing aids and even a little cheating, human style. For this investigation into the extraordinary sex lives of plants, Oxford Scientific Films have searched Australia, the Arctic, Central America and the British countryside to reveal the intriguing and bizarre encounters between plants and their pollinators - the ' go-betweens ' on unwitting errands of love. Starring Cloris Leachman Ron Howard Sissy Spacek
During America's great depression years of the 1930s, farmworkers moved from one area to another desperately seeking work. Inevitably they were exploited by the landowners and the often brutal middlemen. This moving portrait of a family trying to survive on the New Jersey farmlands features Sissy Spacek, last year's Academy Award winner, in one of her important early roles.
