For the past two years Andrew Cooper , a naturalist and wildlife artist from Newton Abbot , has been filming the endangered species of the South West. As a result, he has found that it isn't just the rarer birds and animals that are threatened with extinction. Many of our more common species - cowslips, woodlark and even the humble primrose also stand in danger. ' And if this is happening to them,' says Andrew, ' what on earth is happening to the rest? '

by JONATHAN MILLER Blood Relations
' The amiable juice as William Harvey called it, that courses through our arteries and veins, is far more complex than it seems on first sight. Although it was once seen as just a plain red liquid, the closer you look at blood the more you find, and in tonight's programme Jonathan Miller traces the understanding of this subtle mixture of cells, fluid and proteins which has a family and biography of its own.
Make no mistake about it, Dr Jonathan Miller is in the entertainment business. . . . The film is full of strange and riveting pictures. We flash from red blood cells to globules of fat floating on the surface of a bowl of stete, to a fleet o/ cars roaming round the track, to a pair of wrestlers smashing the living daylights out of each other, and back to Dr Miller again, wearing exactly the same expression as Tom Baker 's Doctor Who when he is about to do something eletcr. Born in 1895, would you believe, 'Ches' as he is affectionately known, recounts just some of the best parts of a lifetime devoted to the theatre, as a light comedian, famous partner, member of that irrepressible bunch, the Crazy Gang, entrepreneur and agent.
