The second of two live concerts from Leeds Town Hall, featuring each night three of six young competitors who, out of a total entry of nearly 100 from all over the world, have won their way through to the Finals.
Each finalist will play a complete concerto with orchestra and the distinguished international jury will deliberate on an astonishingly high standard of musicianship, artistry and technique. Tonight they will decide the 1981 winner and the full results will be announced at 10.35* pm. Previous outright winners Michael Roll
(1963), Rafael Orozco (1966), Radu Lupu (1969), Murray Perahia (1972), Dmitri Alexeev (1975) and Michel Dalberto (1978) are now all internationally established concert pianists.
