Gavin Millar introduces three remarkable films by the Scottish film-maker Bill Douglas - My Childhood, My Ain Folk and My Way Home. Douglas himself has called them 99 per cent autobiographical. Told without a trace of self-pity or sentimentality, the trilogy starts tonight.
A bleak, almost physically-painful picture, distilled from the bitter memories of one of this country's most original talents. I believe this trilogy ivill come to be regarded not just as a milestone, but as one of the heroic achievements oj the British cinema. (the observer)
