The Mausoleum, the great tomb from which later mausoleums take their name, was one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The Roman, Pliny the Elder, gives some huge dimensions and adds that it was built in the fourth century BC for Mausolus, King of Caria. Hitherto, not much more was known. Now - with evidence from a new excavation of its site-this programme reconstructs the original Mausoleum.
